Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: My son’s high school band is
having their annual spring concert. I know that you can record
people at your studio, but what about recording a live concert
at our high school?
A: Kirk has recorded hundreds of live concerts
at high schools and collages all over the country. He learned
the art of live recording from the best in the business, and
now at McWhorter records we can offer you his expertise and
more importantly, a turn around time of your finished product
at a fraction of the time of some more “well established”
studios. |
Q: I’m a high school student and
I need a recording for a college audition tape. Is this going
to cost me a lot of money?
A: No. Music education is a
very important thing to us. We run a
student
special for just such an occasion. For fifty bucks
you get an hour of studio time, enhancement, post production,
and a single copy CD to send off to the school or ensemble of
your choice. We even have a Yamaha Clavinova digital piano for
your accompanist. |
Q: I’m a singer, and I’ve
always wanted to record my voice, you know, just to see what
I sound like. What can you do?
A: We can bring you into the studio and
make you sound like a star. If you have backing tracks (karaoke,
piano accompaniment, etc.) we’ll put you into the mix,
add a little EQ and reverb and mix it so that everything
sounds great. We even have a pitch correcting “trick”
for those notes that aren’t quite there. If, on the other
hand, you want to record a new song, maybe something you wrote
for a loved one, we have studio musicians available that will
work for a very reasonable rate to bring your song to life! |
Q: My brother knows a guy who says he’s
got a recording studio in his basement, and he says he’ll
record our bands demo tape for a case of beer and free tickets
to our next show. Why should I pay you to do something that
we can get done cheaper?
A: Everybody knows “this guy- who knows
a guy”. At McWhorter Records we’ve
been doing this for a long time, and our proof is in the results.
Now - if you want your band's recording to sound like it was
recorded by “a guy who owns a real cool stereo and likes
the same brand of beer that we drink”, then by all means
– save a few bucks and we’ll see you at the next
“whatever happened to" - reunion, but if you want
a professional recording, that looks great and sounds better,
then come to the choice of hundreds of professional musicians
and recording artists - McWhorter Records. |
Q: Can you transfer my old albums or
eight track tapes to compact disc?
A: Yes, many times people have old albums
or tapes that are not available on CD. We can load them into
the computer and, not only transfer them to disc, but actually
make them better. Old albums may have scratches and pops, and
through digital technology we can erase the bad noises and keep
the good ones. Now don’t get me wrong – it doesn’t
always work so that it sounds like the original recording, but
you’ll be surprised what we can do! |
Q: We have all the songs written, all
the musicians, and everything else in place. If we come to your
studio to record, can you help us with putting the whole CD
package together?
A: Absolutely. The many friends that we’ve
made over the years include top people at many CD manufacturing
plants, and printing companies as well as graphic artists. We
can either put you in touch with them directly, or take care
of everything ourselves. Many people don’t have the know-how
to create a professional looking project that they would be
proud of. At McWhorter Records, we do. |
Q: My daughter is in a local dance school,
and every time they have their annual recital, the music seems
very “choppy” and fades out right at the best part
of the song. It seems as if something could be done to make
things flow more smoothly. Can I have the dance instructor contact
you directly?
A: Please do. The process of digitally editing
pre-programmed music is the same as editing original tunes.
What we’ll do is take a five minute song (for instance),
and cut out a verse, a chorus or both and turn it into a two
and a half minute song that flows seamlessly from start to finish
allowing the dance teacher to choreograph a routine with a definite
start and a big finish! |
